About Liquid Cobalt Octoate

Liquid Cobalt Octoate is a cobalt-based catalyst that accelerates the drying process of oil-based paints, varnishes, coatings, and other products that contain drying oils such as alkyd resins. The enhanced curing process leads to stronger and more durable coatings, which are more resistant to wear, moisture, scratching, and UV degradation. This is commonly employed in both industrial coatings and decorative paints, particularly for applications requiring faster drying times and improved performance. Liquid Cobalt Octoate helps produce a smoother, more even finish, contributing to higher-quality paint films with better aesthetic appeal.

It is the strongest oxidant and most active drier available. Cobalt improves the surface drying and used in conjunction with auxiliary driers in oxidatively air-drying coatings.

It is used in combination with lead or zirconium (together with calcium) depending on environmentally friendly formulations, and it improves the surface drying as well as through dry.

Similarly performing Cobalt Neo offers a more environmentally friendly option with respect to Cobalt Oct due to restricted water solubility.
